PIIT 3.0 Review

So this review comes a little bit late, since I actually finished the month challenge last month! But now that I have the time to sit down and look back on the third series of this Pilates Intense Interval workout program, it’s kind of amazing to see how far I’ve come since last yearΒ when PIIT 1.0 was first released. Here is my before/after picture:

IMG_2060

It’s not that drastic of a change visually, but I feel like most of the change (well, for me at least) all has to do with my mentality and physical endurance. During PIIT 1.0 I could barely get through a set without my shoulders or legs tiring out! That was a year ago. Now, I can push through my sets without needing to stop and rest. What I love the most is seeing my own progress, little by little—FullSizeRender 22The first time I did knee-in flyers (photo on left), I. was. DYING. But now that I’ve gained more shoulder strength and endurance, I have more fun with it! Yesterday I was doing them and felt myself almost fly up into a handstand and hold it :O I’ve never done a handstand in my life, so just knowing that I can almost do one gives me a little bit more confidence!

Another thing that I also really like about this program is that it’s onlyΒ 30 minutes to get through. I’m pretty lazy, so knowing that this amount of time is only a teeny tiny part of my day kicks me into gear—whether I’m fitting in this 30 minutes first thing in the morning or late at night. What also helps me, whenever I’m halfway through, is thinking “Oh I only have 14 minutes to go??? That’s not much, I got this!”

mentally breaking down PIIT makes it easier for me to charge through πŸ˜€

I think the major hurdle in the beginning of doing PIIT was finding the time to do it on a daily basis, but once I stuck to my schedule, it wasn’t that bad. Also, remember to take that rest day to let your body relax and get itself ready for the next six days! What also helped was the PIITster community that I followed over on Instagram. Whenever I felt lazy, I would scroll through and see everyone else killing their workouts–it inspired and motivated me to get off my lazy butt!

What’s new with PIIT28 is that you can buy all three programs at once now! There are also other options that include the 28 Day Reset Meal planΒ if you’re interested. Here are the different packs:

The Power Pack is basically what I have and will continue to use. Now that I’m finished with the program, I still do PIIT 3.0, but also try to incorporate other things that I enjoy doing (running on the beach, yoga) to balance myself out. What’s awesome is that with each workout program you get a beautiful e-book and a PIIT portal that has breakdowns of each move along with modifications, a bonusΒ Get Flexy e-book that includes warm-up and cool down stretches for each targeted area (arms, legs, total body), along with a #PIITstagram calendar to follow and use as a way to connect with the PIIT community. πŸ™‚

Transformation Pack (PIIT 1.0, 2.0, 3.0 + 28 Day ResetΒ (worth $149 but since it’s a bundle it’s discounted to $99–saving $49!)

If I were living on my own and had more control over meals and whatnot (I live with my family), then I would’ve totally gotten the 28 Day Reset! While I haven’t tried it myself, I’ve heard lots of positive reviews about the reset helping PIITsters to reach their goals in becoming healthier and fitter overall. The 28 Day Reset is described to: “help you tackle stubborn fat, bloating, acne, and with a focus on increasing your energy levels.”

There are also Vegan options, too, if you just want to get the Vegan 28 Day Reset, or the full Transformation Pack!

If you just want to try it out, they still have just PIIT 1.0 workout program–but I think it’s a deal to get all the programs in one buy! If you have any questions, feel free to leave a comment below! πŸ™‚

POPFLEX Peony mini haul review

I decided to take advantage of the awesome Spring sale that’s going on at POPFLEXΒ and snagged myself the Goddess top in Navy and the Set the Bar bra in Navy/White.

Screen Shot 2017-03-20 at 11.48.00 AM

What I love is how quickly my items shipped to me! Plus, I live in Hawaii so regular packages (like from Amazon) take FOREVER to get here. I ordered my stuff on Monday and the POPFLEX team got it shipped to my by Wednesday. How awesome is that?! I honestly think they have the best shipping speed and customer service out of all the online shopping sites that I’ve experienced πŸ˜€ (oh god Old Navy’s was TERRIBLE but that’s a rant for another time).

I did a quick photoshoot and review for you guys, in case you’re interested in buying any POPFLEX during the sale!

First up is the Goddess Top in Navy:

I decided that even though I’m a size 4 in their bras, my boobs may be x-small but the rest of me is a little bit wider, so I sized up to a 6! And I’m glad I did. In the photos I paired it with my Draw the Line Peony leggings, which I highly recommend because they’re super comfy, have breathable black mesh on the sides, and have really cute Peony print POCKETS. I’m all about them pockets. πŸ˜‰

IMG_2340

The front has a really nice silhouette

IMG_2333

The side is a teeny bit revealing

IMG_2331

I like how it flows down the back and how well it covers the booty XD

Pros:

  • It’s super flowy and I love the little cutouts on the sides that flow down at the back.
  • The backing is beautiful with the Peony print straps to show off your back.
  • The top is made out of their bra material while the bottom skirt part is made out of their Swan tank breathable material. (I reviewed their Swan Tank here)
  • I can’t speak for girls who have larger chests, but the bra part is compressed enough to hold everything in!
IMG_2344

band is a bit tight

IMG_2342

see the difference in material? I like that the material is more breathable in the tummy area, though.

IMG_2314

There may be some side boob going on for other people, but since mine are so small, I’m not that concerned. It does look a bit funny that the black inner is poking out XD

Cons:

  • The band in the middle is kind of tight (for a good reason, though, but still) and feels a little bit awkward when you first wear it.
  • Taking the top off is a challenge! I felt like a contortionist trying to pull it off! Another reason why I’m glad that I sized up.

Overall:

  • I recommend goingΒ one size upΒ due to the band tightness and bra. Even though mine is a little bit big on me, I’m glad I sized up.
  • I’ve yet to test it out in a workout, but I’m sure everything stays in place.
  • This is a good top if you want to show off your back πŸ˜‰

Next up is the Set the Bar bra in Navy/White:

This is a bra that I’ve wanted since it first came out, but always waited to get. I fell in love with the colors and the mesh design! So when I saw that it was on sale, I digitally threw it into my cart and was so happy to get it in the mail πŸ™‚ I read that this bra runs tighter than the heart strings bra, so I sized up to a size 6 (I’m like a 32A–really small boobs lol).

IMG_2364

hehe you can still see the POPFLEX tag on the right side XD I forgot to snip it off!Β

Pros:

  • The color! I love the navy/white combo
  • Stylish and breathable mesh cut-out
  • Holds everything in place (I mean, I don’t have much to hold, but they definitely feel in place!)
  • The backing is super cute and supported. I like how thick the bands are.

IMG_2374

Back and arms are all thanks to PIIT!

Cons:

  • Underneath the armpits area, similar to the Mermaid crop bra, is very tight! As you can see from the picture below, they don’t give that much room for my back/arm flab. lol. Another reason why it’s good toΒ size up.
  • Because this bra is tight, just like with the Goddess top, you have to contort yourself when taking it off! A good thing is that the straps are so thick I don’t feel like I’m going to tear anything. But it’s still a workout in itself to take it off XD.

IMG_2378

Not much armpit space

Overall, I’m happy with my purchases and am excited to wear them for all of my PIIT and POP workouts!

Trying out Blogilates Baked Donuts

I’ve been craving something sweet, so I whipped up some donuts using Blogilates’ recipe!

IMG_2290

Ingredients:

  • 3/4 c. oat flour
  • 1 small ripe banana, mashed
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 Tb honey
  • 1 Tb coconut oil, melted
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp sea salt
  • pinch of stevia

Frosting:

  • 3 Tb vanilla Greek yogurt
  • 1/2 ripe banana, mashed
  • pinch of stevia
  • 1 tsp beet powder

IMG_2291

After preheating the oven to 325Β°F, I coated the donut pan with cooking spray. Then using an electric beater, I mixed together the oat flour, mashed banana, eggs, honey, and coconut oil. After I added the vanilla, baking soda, salt, and stevia and then mixed everything together. Spooning the donut mix was pretty messy, but I love how there was just enough mix for the pan! No wasted dough πŸ™‚

While the donuts are baking in the oven for 9 minutes, I whipped up the frosting. The beet powder gave it a beautiful reddish-pink color, and the Greek yogurt that I used (Tillamook) gave it such a yummy flavor!

IMG_2292

That color, though! Love it!Β

Once the donuts were baked through (used a toothpick to test it out–if it comes out clean, you’re good to go!), I let them cool, frosted it, and then topped it with some mini chocolate chips and berries :9

They’re delicious, too! Another thing that’s great is that regular donuts usually leave a heavy, bloated feeling in my stomach. But after eating these, I feel comfortably full. They have the perfect amount of sweetness and density compared to regular donuts. So if you’re craving something sweet, try this recipe out and let me know how it goes! πŸ™‚

POPFLEX Fly Away Run Shorts Review

When I first tried these on, I realized that they run pretty large, so I had to wait and exchange my Dark Bloom run shorts size 8 for a size 6. I was so excited to get my exchange in the mail! I wore it to the gym and it was super comfy. They look very flowy, like flower petals, and have black mesh underneath for some extra coverage.

Below is the front and back of the shorts. The lighting is a bit more yellow-y due to my taking these shots at home at night, but the colors are pretty vibrant in person!

IMG_2181

The front has a really long string tie to tighten the waistband, and as the POPFLEX Stylist tip recommends, you can cut the string to a desirable length.

IMG_2186

I think cutting it, folding the edge a tiny bit over, and sewing a backstitch with black thread will work! I’m a newbie at sewing, too just FYI.Β

On the picture in the left, it’s a little hard to tell, but there’s a fold of fabric that goes diagonally over the fabric covering the back, and that fold does go all the way up! So if a breeze were to ruffle the shorts, it may reveal a bit too much lol. So if you need more coverage, wearing some black bike shorts, or black POP shorts underneath totally works. Because the shorts are so light, it doesn’t feel bulky at all!

IMG_2183

Paired the Flyaway shorts with black POP shorts 2.0 for extra coverage.

The material is really like surf shorts, and it actually did wick away all the sweat I had when I worked out at the gym. What’s nice is that there’s also a velcro pocket in the back ( I love pockets!). I’m hoping the velcro is sturdy and doesn’t accidentally rip off if I’m opening the pocket too fast.

IMG_2176

Overall, this is a pretty pair of running shorts to wear! (ooh I totally just rhymed)

If you have any questions about some of the items, lmk! By the way, use this size chart here (since the Dark Bloom collection uses an updated size chart and runs a bit smaller compared to the Peony and Mermaid ones)

Screen Shot 2016-11-16 at 9.39.13 PM

I’m a size 4 (32A) in their bras and a size 6 (hip size 37-38″) in their bottoms for the Peony collection

I’m adding some items to my cart, too πŸ˜‰

Screen Shot 2017-03-20 at 11.48.00 AM

I sized up the Set the Bar bra because they tend to run a little bit smaller.

Pictured below are some Peony collection items that I’ve previously reviewed: Swan tank in Navy, POP short in Peony, and Pointe leggings in Snow White)

Silver Linings: POP Instructor thoughts

Yesterday was…an interesting day. But I think this quote is the perfect representation of yesterday:

pic1546516

Here is the dark gloomy part of the cloud:

So yesterday’s POP Pilates class left me feeling a bit discouraged. Only 4 people showed up (two newbies, two regulars)! And it felt like such a mess because I think the lack of people threw my game off. I spent the week before preparing some new tracks, visualizing a nice group of 10-12 people dying together during the 100’s track. What’s funny is that even though I prepared so much for this class compared to other classes–I just felt so off. My cues were wobbly, and some of the tracks were a bit faster for my new students. I hope they didn’t walk away discouraged. However, I did talk to one of them and let them know if they have any suggestions on how to make their experience better to let me know, so I’m hoping that helped. It’s tough.Β My goal is to get 20 people attending my class, so comparing that with the number of people who showed up yesterday is kinda sad. I’ve

There are too many doubts running through my head.

Is it because of me? Did I make it too hard and not give enough modifications? Did I scare people away? Is it because it’s spring break?Β  Is it because I only teach once a week?Β

And here is the silver linings part:

Even though there were fewer people than last week, I feel like it gave me a little more freedom and more time to talk to my students. What’s nice is that the two regulars (a couple) told me that they really enjoy POP and have been attending my classes for three weeks now. The guy also said that now he knows he should do POP before working out, rather than after because now he knows how much of a real workout it is! So that was really cool. Honestly, I just hope the four people who did show up had a good time. The couple said they were going to be back next week, so yay! I need to find a way to get more regulars lol.

0238

And overall, I need to focus on the positives. I’m planning on asking the front desk to announce my class next time, so I hope that works in getting more people! *crosses fingers* For those who teach group fitness classes, have you ever had this problem? Any tips on how to keep people coming back?

*UPDATED 5/14/17: So those two weeks were really weirdΒ because the weeks after that (up until now) I’ve had steady numbers of 9-11 students! So I think it’s just a process of new people trying it out, or people being really busy that week, that made the numbers fluctuate so much. But so far my classes have been fairly consistent, and really fun! It’s nice when you can establish regulars and introduce new people to POP Pilates πŸ˜‰
